Zenlynx, a leading provider of advanced electronics and system products for the telecommunications industry, today announced that it has selected MaxLinear’s Sierra single-chip radio System-on-Chip (SoC) for its RRU4401S Indoor Open RAN Radio Unit (O‑RU).
Designed to address the growing demand for high‑performance, energy‑efficient indoor coverage, Zenlynx designed its new indoor O‑RU around a highly integrated radio architecture that prioritizes compact form factor, low power consumption, and deployment flexibility. By leveraging the Sierra single-chip radio platform, Zenlynx is able to deliver an indoor radio solution optimized for enterprise, venue, and neutral‑host environments where scalability and operational efficiency are critical.
By integrating MaxLinear’s 8-port single‑chip radio SoC, Zenlynx significantly reduces system complexity while achieving industry‑leading low power efficiency in the RRU4401S design. Sierra’s high level of silicon integration and advanced Digital Pre-Distortion (DPD) capabilities allow Zenlynx to optimize RF power amplifier efficiency, making the RRU4401S well suited for Power over Ethernet (PoE) deployments and enabling meaningful reductions in both capital and operating expenses (CAPEX and OPEX) for indoor 4G and 5G networks.
The Sierra platform also enables Zenlynx to offer exceptional product flexibility, supporting two‑, three‑, and four‑band RF configurations through a modular front‑end approach. This allows Zenlynx to rapidly customize products for different frequency bands and regional requirements while maintaining a common hardware and software foundation. In addition, the platform’s mature, software-programmable architecture supports advanced and complex Open RAN use cases such as MORAN and neutral-host deployments, enabling Zenlynx to address emerging indoor network models with faster time-to-market.
